This is a great video of Jonathan Siegrist climbing a 14d/15a in Nevada. It took 6 weeks and 30 attempts – but he finally made it.
“It was exactly what I was looking for – a route that would demand a new levels of dedication, physical strength, and mental fortitude from me. It was of course frustrating, ego-crushing, and difficult throughout, but in the end it was a dream come true. I named the route ‘Le Reve’, meaning ‘The Dream’ in French.”

The John Muir Trail is one of the most famous hiking trails in North America, if not the world. It runs between Yosemite Valley and Mount Whitney with thousands of people making the hike every year. But what do they miss along the 160 mile trail. So many hikers speed walk through it, without noticing the details.

I don’t need to explain the importance of having a good spotter while climbing / bouldering. Imagine if just for a split second the spotter was distracted by a bug or a car driving by – this climber could have been seriously injured.

I came across a very well done video this morning called “High Divide.” It follows Coleman Smith and a group of friends along the High Divide Trail in the Olympic National Park, Washington. Coleman, narrates the film – yet also has a Les Stroud filming style to him. I definitely enjoyed the story telling, filming and educaitonal interjections.
Check it out.
